Intriguing paper on why talk therapy can only go so far

Talk therapy can help but at times less cognitive treatments are required. Anything related to ANY form of therapy goes here.

Intriguing paper on why talk therapy can only go so far

Passed to my by a neurologist colleague that has an interest in this area. Ties together some of the neurophysiology/ anatomy of various brain systems and how it links to how we process and hold trauma in our bodies. Also talks about somatic release therapy as a way of releasing body held trauma.

That was an interesting read, David....Thanks. In general, it's always seemed to be my thoughts that are driving the distraction during meditation and I've never been made to feel uncomfortable by any emotions coming up. It could be that I'm just too repressed in this regard and even during meditation have a hard time recognizing the defenses at work in this case. But it's nice to see the two traditions merging a bit so that if something is better handled by SE, then more people will know about how to implement that approach for the better. On the one hand, as we've done here before, it's easy to bash clinical psychology; but imagine the new and different therapies that come on-line annually that a concerned practitioner would have to keep tabs on!
