So before we go any further here
Better we turn into another year
There's some things you probably don't want to hear
But you have to
If I told you sometimes I get jealous
Sometimes I'm half crazy
Would you say the hell with me, the hell with me?
If I told you I barely know what love is
But girl, if that's what this I don't want to let it slip away
Could you love me anyway, please?

Spinnaker....
"There is a crack in everything (there is a crack in everything)
That's how the light gets in."
i have several cracks in my cello. some of the sound escapes from it. but some of the vibes from the outside world and the light ..gets inside it, too.
I happened to be out listening to some amazing bluegrass singers tonight (husband and wife singing and playing together for over 40 years) really really really beautiful. and the wife tells me (what I thought was the most beautiful pianissimo I've ever heard in my life) that they were totally lost, he had taken a wrong turn on a chord and was trying to get back (and she was so gently strumming in the background trying not to let the audience hear that the key was perhaps not solid and they weren't sure where they were)
it was so lovely. the crack was so perfect. every pefrormance, every time...there's always this little crack. it usually unhinges a musician. but with time, I'm so getting the message of this Leonard Cohen song about imperfection is a kind of perfection. the wars will be fought again. all of our personal little battles and fears and wars...they come. (but...oh...my...god...THAT IS WHERE THE LIGHT GETS IN!)
thanks spinnaker. such a great message for me this night.

Funny, one of my favourite musicians (Shirley Manson from Garbage) posted those Leonard Cohen lyrics tonight.
Ring the bells that still can ring
Forget your perfect offering
There is a crack in everything
That's how the light gets in
Love it.
