AYE. RIP to both. I really want to read some of Bourdain's books this year.
That Iron & Wine song, as Tom Waits would say: "That's a beauty."
I love the way the lyrics are about ultimately just laying out our feelings unconditionally, even if unreciprocated, and accepting them to a degree, simply because we're alive. Seems similar in spirit (tho less misanthropic ) to Bukowski's oft-quoted:
“We're all going to die, all of us, what a circus! That alone should make us love each other but it doesn't. We are terrorized and flattened by trivialities, we are eaten up by nothing.”

Re: Songs to help us move on and heal from limerence
I was thinking about music that I had on repeat for two previous LEs, one short lived (less than a year) and one a bit longer (about a year and a half). I have no idea why these particular albums worked on me, they just felt good and I just let them work their magic.
I think the lyrics / musical styles sort of address your heart pain, but somehow tear you away from it — letting you ground yourself in your life story no matter how apparently disappointing it might appear to be at that moment, or in the overall chaos of life where you inevitably collide with people and events that have all kinds of effects on you.
I can't see any other connection with this music, although in one case, I blubbered out all my leftover feelings out (to an LE who was an ex) a few hours before a David Byrne concert, which I remember as breathtaking - going from misery to beauty in the space of a day.
David Bryne - Glass Concrete and Stone
This album's a bit bonkers, sonically. Perfect at the time b/c it matched how I felt:
Blonde Redhead - In an Expression of the Inexpressible (full album)

I saw David Byrne in concert literally a few weeks ago. One of the BEST concerts I have ever been to...Go see him everyone!

(OK it's mostly oo-o-oooo, don't know what to say/do now, but:)
"But you know I'll do anything for you
I’ll do anything for you
I’ll do anything for you, oh
You're so willing to let me
But you’re not going to do anything for me"
