Songs to help us move on and heal from limerence

Post by Spinnaker » Tue Dec 20, 2016 9:24 pm

Lots of music lovers on the forum today ! Me too.

Music can make you feel miserable and remind you of your LO; or lift you up and inspire you to move on and look forward to better days.

I've delete the stations from Pandora which make me miss the best of times with LO.

Let's post songs which have HELPED us during our healing process. I'm only on day 8 NC, but feeling strong. I'll start the list:

Song which helped me remember that LO #1 was smart to make that "list" of pro's and con's.

Coldplay:The Scientist

Song helping me with acceptance that he never loved me (LO #2).

Birdy: Let it go

I hope these resonate with some of you. Add your inspiring songs here:

Hoping this is appropriate for 'recovery'.... ;-)

"And yesterday I knew just what you wanted
When you came walkin' up to me with him
So I told you that I was happy for you
And given the chance I'd lie again

....Just to see you smile"

No Scrubs by TLC
I Don't Need A Man by Pussycat Dolls (if you're into this kind of music anyway).
Roxy Roller by Sweeney Todd-not related to limerence but it's catchy and I loved listening to it over and over on my days off back in the day to cope with still having to work with LO.

YES!! :-BD Empowering songs--that's what I'm talking about !
I love/d TLC . Did you watch the documentary about Lisa's last days? I've copied the links for others to listen.

TLC: No Scrubs:

Pussy Cat Dolls:

I'll dedicate a You Tube folder for inspiring and or uplifting songs which helped fight the limerbeast. Mine weren't as upbeat as I'd like to share and I'll come up with more fun songs. Mine were songs which help me focus on rational thoughts and reminding me why each LE wasn't meant to be.

JD: Thank you for adding your Tim Mcgraw song. Those darn country tunes get me crying way too easily. :((

There are so many triggers out there that we need to wipe out or avoid as much as possible.
The time of year and remembering LE this time last year has been difficult for me. It's a challenging one to avoid. But, I blocked my FB reminders after seeing a GNO picture from a year ago. I remembered our heated conversation and texts which started our radio silence. That flood of emotions was instantaneous, all because of a picture triggering the thoughts.

Most of my darn stations are play way too many trigger songs. I'm probably not the only one frustrated about that. So, keep 'em coming!

Stay strong!
Here's Pink singing, Perfect.

You, you once broke my belief
And I know, I was so damn naive
Remember the days you acted so real
The things you said were not a big deal
You could call me,
Whenever you wanted
I was yours, a toy, always ready
Get away, don't try to manipulate
Makes me, wonder
Whenever you're hanging around
I die in the front of your feet
And I've tried to exist
On your heat
Sucking me dry for my energy
Sucking me dry with your energy
Sucking me dry for the energy
Get away, stay away from me
Get away don't come
Ooh so close to me
And I know you'll be back
So tell, tell me what do you need
All right, take my body to feed
Sucking me dry for my energy
Sucking me dry with your energy
Sucking me dry for your energy
Sucking me dry for more energy

Good song Limerentfriend. Woke up this morning and read your posts. You have such an amazing gift of bringing thoughts and feelings to our screens and reminding us were not alone in our brokenness.

Lots of driving in the car yesterday made it challenging to not miss LO. The good feelings are gone.

It'seems difficult living in the real world all day and night. But, that means the limerbeast is losing and now I have wait for my heart to mend.

I don't really like the video, so didn't link to it. But Fergie's "Big Girls Don't Cry" has a lot of post-LE recovery notions running through it....

♪"I hope you know, I hope you know
That this has nothing to do with you
It's personal, myself and I
We've got some straightenin' out to do
And I'm gonna miss you like a child misses their blanket
But I've got to get a move on with my life"♫

"Ragged Wood", Fleet Foxes
I don't know whether it helps me to move on or heal, but it serves as a reminder of the seemingly inextinguishable longing that my more obvious hostility obscures.

Lie to me if you will,
At the top of Beringer Hill.
Tell me anything you want,
Any old lie will do.
Call me back to,
Back to you.
Accountability: a word leaders start to use right before the scapegoating begins.

Gravity by Sarah Bareilles

https://youtu.be/A_U6iSAn_fY

"You hold me without touch.
You keep me without chains.
I never wanted anything so much,
than to drown in your love and not feel your rain.

Set me free. Leave me be. I don't want to fall another moment into your gravity.
Here I am, and I stand so tall.
Just the way I'm supposed to be..."
